SIA Close Protection Training.
The premium pathway.
Close protection is the top of the licensed ladder: protecting people rather than places, at day rates to match. Nineteen days covers the full SIA specification, from threat assessment and operational planning through foot and vehicle drills to venue protection, finishing with written exams and assessed practical exercises. It is a demanding course and a serious investment; speak to the adviser first if you are weighing the step up from DS work.
Market day-rate framing for licensed CP operatives (2026). The work is irregular by design; established operatives balance retained clients with ad-hoc tasks.
Written exams plus continuously assessed practical exercises, including planned operations run as a team.

It rewards experience, judgement and fitness, and the work is irregular by nature. Most successful CP operatives held a DS or SG licence first. Ask the adviser to map your route.
