SIA Door Supervisor Training.
SIA licence pathway · 95% pass first time.
This is the course behind the badge. Six days in the classroom and on your feet, covering the law, the licence, conflict management, physical intervention and emergency first aid. Pass the exams and you hold the Level 2 award the SIA requires for a Door Supervisor licence. The DS licence is the most flexible badge in security: it covers door work, and it also lets you work every role a Security Guard licence covers.
The first aid day comes first because the SIA requires it before physical intervention training. CPR, the recovery position, choking, bleeding. You leave with a first aid certificate that stands on its own for three years.
The ground everyone stands on: the Private Security Industry Act, the SIA, health and safety at work, fire procedures, emergencies, and how the industry actually operates.
The specialist day: licensing law, drugs awareness, searching, refusals and ejections, queue management, recording incidents, and working with CCTV and the police.
The skill you use every shift. Reading behaviour, defusing aggression early, communicating under pressure, and keeping yourself and the customer safe when a situation turns.
Practical, on your feet. Disengagement techniques, escorting holds and how to use them as a last resort, taught to the approved standard and physically assessed.
Multiple-choice exams for the knowledge units and the practical physical intervention assessment. Most learners pass first time; retake support is included if you need it.
Day order can vary by centre; your joining instructions confirm your schedule.
England average for door supervisors (Indeed, Aug 2026), top of range £18.27. Two weekend nights at average rates is roughly £280–£350; full-time city work clears £2,000+ a month after tax.
